ROLEmodels Service Project…Zach Bags 2.0 | Dallas Senior Photographer
I was thrilled to be able to participate in the Zachary Bags project for the second year with my ROLEmodels. I’m always impressed when they get up early on a weekend morning to participate in service projects! To read about what the Zachary Bags project is, click here.
We all got to work in mid-November collecting items for the bags. What are the homeless most in need of when, especially when it’s cold?
- Dry snacks and dried meat
- Bottled water (they will usually hold on the bottle in order to refill it)
- Travel sized toiletries
- Baby powder
- Body wipes
Before delivering our Zachary Bags items, we met at my house to write encouraging notes to include in the bags. Even my sweet girl Isabelle got in on the project this year!
The kind words expressed on these note cards hopefully add a little cheer to the bags. I told them to just keep it simple, one or two phrases. I think Isabelle’s heart person with a present might be one of the cutest things ever!
After we finished writing the notes, we loaded up the items in our cars and headed to my friend Tami’s house for delivery and bag filling. Every year I have her share the story of her amazing son Zach and why she created this program. It’s so humbling to hear their experience as a family and how they are turning their grief into something positive.
I love these girls and their big hearts!
