ROLEmodels | Why is there a fee to join?
Welcome back to the blog! This is a follow-up post to my recent blog about What ROLEmodels Is…And What It ISN’T. Click the link to check it out~
In that blog post, I mentioned that there is fee to join ROLEmodels. I’d love to share with all of you why I charge a fee, and what it goes towards. Charging a fee to join a senior model program is not unusual; in fact, many senior photographers in this market have one. This part of my program is not a profit builder for me, but more of a way to guarantee commitment from my ROLEmodels that they are invested in the time and effort I put in to making it an experience to remember. Also, the fee covers just a small portion of the many different costs associated with supporting a team of girls with photo shoots and other group events over the course of the year.
For the Class of 2019, the fee is $200. If you read my blog post about what ROLEmodels is (click here to read it!), you can see all the extra benefits they receive over a regular client. In addition to all those benefits, this year I am including the following extras as well:
- A full size magazine of the styled summer shoot
- An 11×14 wall portrait included with her senior portrait package (a $99 value)
- And, with her second referral, she will get a $50 gift card to any store of her choosing.
So, here we go…what does my ROLEmodels fee go towards?
- T-Shirts. Each ROLEmodel gets a t-shirt…and they are actually cute!
Fun gifts! I’m a gift giver…so some of that fee covers my habit of buying lots of adorable goodies for my girls.
Location rentals. I love shooting in interesting places, and many times this comes with a cost. I use part of the fee to rent studios or other natural light locations for my ROLEmodels shoots.
Makeup. For the big styled shoot in the summertime, each girl gets professionally applied makeup by the best makeup artists in the area. Part of the fee goes towards this fun experience.
Clothes. Sometimes I help style the photo shoots, and purchase clothing for the girls to wear. My urban sequin shoot for the Class of 2017 ROLEmodels was styled exclusively by myself with clothes I bought.
Magazines. Each ROLEmodel for the Class of 2019 will receive a beautiful, full size magazine of all the images from the styled shoot in the summer! The fee will be applied towards part of this cost as well. Check it out here!
Supplies. Supplies for activities are paid for by using some of the fee. This year we did Kindness Rocks, and next year we will be doing a couple other meaningful projects that require lots of supplies.
Food. I always provide food. I love sweets, and can’t have a gathering without some sort of treat. During our summer shoot this year, we had a huge storm blow in that set us back a bit, so we had some time to kill. Pizza for everyone! The fee helps pay for things like this as well.
Documentation. A lot of times I have someone come and take video or pictures of our events, and I use part of the fee to help cover part of this cost.
The time I invest. Lastly, the fee helps cover just a little bit of the time I invest in the girls, and all the program entails.
I literally put my heart and soul into this program, and into my ROLEmodels. When you hand me that check for the ROLEmodels fee, you are telling me that you are invested in what you feel is a worthwhile way for your daughter to spend time during her senior year. You are telling me that you understand why I do what I do. You are telling me that when I ask your daughter to post a picture on Instagram and tag me, she will do it. You are telling me that you are excited to have me take your daughter’s senior pictures.
I hope this information gets you all excited about joining ROLEmodels! Apply today! Applications close Monday, January 22nd.
